Pixel 7

2 Minute Review

The Google Pixel 7 is the latest addition to the Pixel series and it's a compact flagship that packs a punch. The phone features a 6.3-inch AMOLED display with a high resolution and an in-display fingerprint sensor. It is powered by the second generation of Google’s Tensor chip and comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

Background

  • I decided to go with the Pixel 7 (given this review) instead of the 7 Pro, mainly because I couldn’t justify the $300 extra dollars for the few additional benefits of the Pro.

  • I went with the Lemongrass colorway, as I tend to go with the “specialty” color for whatever phone I decide to make my daily driver!

  • I opted for 128 GB of storage.

Review

    • The 50 megapixel main lens takes incredible photos even in harsh conditions.

    • The 12 megapixel ultra wide lens isn’t anything to rave about, but it’s far more useful than the telephoto that they had on the Pixel 5 (my old phone)!

    • The camera bar is a bit polarizing though, my wife hates the way it looks, but I’m a big fan!

    • I can pretty consistently get a full day out of the battery while only charging it in the car.

    • It’s by no means the battery champ, but it is solid enough to give me confidence where I’m not consistently thinking about if I should charge it before I leave the house (like the Galaxy Fold 3 did).

    • Right now on the Google Store, you can get this on sale for $499! Let that sink in for a moment, this phone is arguably the best phone for photography, has solid battery life and has great overall performance and is $200 - $300 less than it’s competitors (iPhone or other mainstream Androids).

    • The comment I always get is, “yeah it seems great but they just don’t last as long as an iPhone!” To that I always say, WHO CARES? I will have a better overall experience buying the Pixel 7 and then the Pixel 8 (assuming no price changes in the new version) than I would buying an iPhone 14 Pro… AND I’d spend the equivalent (or less money if you can find it on sale!)

Verdict

In conclusion, the Google Pixel 7 is a great choice for those who are looking for a compact flagship with a great camera and battery life. The phone also comes with the added benefit of timely software updates and a sleek design.
